A More Fitting Company Name Would be "Don't-Carestream Health" - Senior Process Engineer Carestream Health Employee Review

Pros

Not many Pros, but probably the main Pro was that most of those that I worked with that had been there a long time (old Kodak folks) are some of the best folks I've ever worked with. They are really sharp and good at what they do and also just good people.

Cons

Too many "Cons" to list but basically to sum it up, and the reason I suggested the name change to "Don't-Carestream", is simply because upper management does not care about the employee. They have fallen into the same trap many companies have as of these days, but are the worst of all companies I've worked for. I'm referring to... (1) Trying to do more with less resulting in burnt-out engineers and technicians. (2) Overloading and overworking employees that are doing the work of 2-3 employees. (3) Pretending their main focus is on safety until it affects profits then anything goes. (4) Pretending they are paying for performance but really just dividing up a tiny department merit increase amongst the number of employees forcing the focus to be on the negative instead of the positive so they can lower your rating. (5) Too many managers that only care about climbing the ladder instead of supporting their employees and motivating their employees to want to perform at 110%. (6) Because they are so short-handed, Engineers end up spending their day fighting the day-to-day fires instead of working on new ideas and designs that will improve efficiency. (7) All leadership support goes to focusing on the customer, the board, and shareholder, while the employee is forgotten and considered disposable. Even a year after the closure of the Colorado facility in 2024 and the layoff of over 200 employees, all the managers are still employed and working in their new and smaller facility (with no employees to manage, who knows what they're coming up with to look like they're busy).

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your many years of service with Carestream. We genuinely appreciate your long-standing commitment and are especially grateful for the dedication of the team in Windsor, including the Kodak legacy employees you mentioned—we agree that their expertise and integrity have been a true asset to the organization. We recognize the concerns you’ve raised about employee workload, management focus, and the challenges that arose during and after the closure of the Windsor facility. Transitions of that scale are incredibly difficult, and while decisions were made to align with business needs, we understand and regret the impact they had on our people. At Carestream, we are actively working to improve internal communication, employee recognition, and workload balance across the organization. While we haven’t always gotten it right, especially in times of major change, we are committed to learning from our past and taking steps to do better moving forward. Your candid feedback is valuable, and we’ll share it with our leadership team for reflection. We sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors and thank you again for the time, talent, and insights you contributed during your time at Carestream.
