Pros

you can work anytime you want Some amazing students

Cons

If you need help from Cambly...it may take days or even a week to hear back from them...I have saved examples of this. In an emergency...they are not there. They have changed it so that you can appeal..they call it a "one off" if you have an emergency. In Oklahoma, we had an ice storm that knocked my electricity off for days...most of my area....Cambly still limited my clients to "regulars" and tell tutors it is not "punitive" - at least now you can appeal something like that. Cambly seems to care about the students...they make $$$ - the tutors...not much at all. So after 3 1/2 years as a super-tutor, I am sadly working for other platforms now and cutting Cambly back until I complete some of the clients I am working with there...then I will move on platforms that may more money. THEY are out there if you care and do a good job. I truly thought...given enough classes...great ratings...showing my dependability, skill, etc. that Cambly would give raises and show some loyally to long-term proven tutors...I was wrong. I just look up their profitability...they are profitable and the tutors are seemingly seen as just something to "use up" and move on. Good luck - not the place for long term part time if you care about yourself or your students.

Pros

Very flexible schedule (you create your own), can easily cancel classes without too much of a penalty (make every student that you like a "regular" student so that if you get penalized...only regulars can book you...you have a huge pool of regulars), Cambly provides lessons, you can use almost any website as long as you don't need to share login information, it's fun and easy, many students become like friends, you can learn about different countries, cultures, and languages

Cons

The pay. It has never increased in the 14 years that Cambly has been in business. They are starting to offer a new program called "Cambly Pro" where you can make $15 an hour, but you have to apply to be a tutor for it and you could be denied. You have to have a 99% rating for 3 months to even be considered. If, like me, you are open to all students (and not just your regular students that you have become friends with), your rating can vary widely. No matter how good of a tutor you are, you will not be everyone's cup of tea. Also, Cambly does not allow tutors to teach in some states in the U.S. due to labor laws.
