Pros

You can choose your hours

Cons

Unfortunately, there's a ton. First, they check whether or not you're using "perfect" lighting. Even if you're in a well-lit room, they expect your face to not have a shadow on it. Second, there's a ton of server-related issues so don't be surprised when you stop receiving calls once in awhile. Third, if your student has connection problems they'll blame and report you for something that's out of your hands! Fourth, students can call you and hang up on you anytime they please without finishing their minutes packages. Fifth, students who make reservations with you can cancel on the last minute OR even worse...allow the reservation period to begin, not cancel...and you only get compensated for 10 minutes worth of time and won't be able to answer a potential 30 minute or more call from another student. Sixth, the app is really bloated and so you can't have too many browsers open. Finally, you have to answer every call that comes your way and finish the minutes packages regardless of whether or not it's a 1 minute, 3 minute, 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute, 45 minute or 1 hour call. So even if you want to ignore trolls and others who waste time you can't...otherwise they'll fire you like they did with me!

Pros

Very flexible schedule (you create your own), can easily cancel classes without too much of a penalty (make every student that you like a "regular" student so that if you get penalized...only regulars can book you...you have a huge pool of regulars), Cambly provides lessons, you can use almost any website as long as you don't need to share login information, it's fun and easy, many students become like friends, you can learn about different countries, cultures, and languages

Cons

The pay. It has never increased in the 14 years that Cambly has been in business. They are starting to offer a new program called "Cambly Pro" where you can make $15 an hour, but you have to apply to be a tutor for it and you could be denied. You have to have a 99% rating for 3 months to even be considered. If, like me, you are open to all students (and not just your regular students that you have become friends with), your rating can vary widely. No matter how good of a tutor you are, you will not be everyone's cup of tea. Also, Cambly does not allow tutors to teach in some states in the U.S. due to labor laws.
