Don't get into management! - Store Manager Big 5 Sporting Goods Employee Review

Pros

Better discounts then most other retail jobs. Selling sporting goods can be fun until you get the people who don't want to believe what you are saying. Great medical and dental benefits for FT only.

Cons

Performance based raises don't exist for management! You can completely blow your year out of the water and have sales up 10% while another store could be down 10% and when it comes time for raises ( if you get one at all that year) you will end up getting the same $ amount increase. Plus store managers are required to work upwards of 55 hours during the holidays and yet are only being payed for 45. All in all big 5 is cheap and will always find a reason to not pay their employees wrong
