Pros

Being among the top 6 audit firm , its probably the only firm which hires semi-qualified. Enables semi qualified to be associated with the firm and get exposure to big clients which otherwise is tough elsewhere in the industry. The pay as a semi qualified is also decent.

Cons

The cons outnumbers the pros: 1. The salary package of a qualified is way less compared to Big 6 standards & increment percentages are pretty embarassing to be mentioned out here in public forum. 2. HR has to be the worst I've come across, no documented policy. Every time one goes to ask something to the HR, the replies are often dependent on the HR's mood rather than something coming out of a documented policy. 3. Being in the audit industry one does understand the perils of late hours of work, but out here due to massive understaffing, the existing employees are made to slog day in day out for 365 days a year. 4. Reiterating to what has been said in point 3, the immense work pressure and deadlines across the year and huge clients at minimal cost more often than not results in shoddy deliverables and a pandemonium during audit closures. 5. The out of pocket expenses are delayed by over 6-8 months, and it becomes difficult for the employee as sometimes the OPE's are very high.

Pros

Compensation is OK. There are some really nice people in the organization to work with, but you have to find them.

Cons

If you are not part of the SWC "club" (company name prior to them joining BDO), good luck. Poor leadership!!! Practice lead talks to everyone like they are talking to a CEO, not relatable in most cases. No clear employee development plans. You are held accountable for things completely outside of your individual control. They stress incorporating AI into work strategy, but have no plan on what that looks like or how to do it and want everyone to formulate it because leadership has no roadmap. One has no control over where you want to take your career, yet you are expected to know everything, about everything. As a result, you become an expert of nothing! Work assigned rarely leverages skills, almost as if they throw darts to see who works on what.
