Pros
Work/life balance allows you to disconnect when off the clock, half day each friday and decent employee discount on many items. Some positions allow for growth.
Cons
While in the store my first year, I saw an employee refuse to shake someone's hand because she was a woman. This was for religious reasons. That attitude is built into the fabric of B&H. Very few women work in the offices in positions other than assistant, there is a divide between those who follow the religious customs of the company's founders and everyone else. After 13 months of successful remote work, the CEO decided that remote work is bad and despite concerns about safety, happiness, efficacy and employee retention, the company is better when everyone is in office five days a week, even though one of those is a half-day. Many people have quit. Many more have sent out their resumes. I feel bad for managers who have to replace them. Each email the CEO sends makes things worse. His sister took over HR during 2020 and made an already ineffectual department worse than useless. HR now refuses to get vaccination status from employees and claims it is up to us to police other workers even though we cannot know anyone's status. Catch 22 is a good book but bad look.
