Pros

Turnover at the entry-level positions is very high, which makes for a good opportunity to get some lab experience under your belt and go after a better job.

Cons

ALS has been on an ambitious Growth-by-Acquisition bender for a number of years. They target a lab with solid QA/QC structures and culture of quality, purchase it, and then start making outlandish demands in regards to ROS and profitability. CAS labs is a case in point - formerly a renowned facility and paragon of quality, now part of the ALS borg. Labs that were built with hard work over many years are turned overnight into complete sweatshops. Since it is a publicly traded corporation, short-term profitability is the name of the game. The drumbeat of "how much can we bill this month" trumps EVERYTHING else. Mid to long term planning is out the door. If you've read the comic strip "Dilbert", then you have an idea of what passes for logic. When hired, you will be viewed as a piece of livestock, not expected to stay more than a year or two.

Pros

Good pay with opportunities. There are always openings.

Cons

Dumbest and most inexperienced management at any company. If you play the political game, you're in. Your knowledge, experience, and accomplishments mean nothing compared to how you suck up.
