Pros

Company has a good trainee program for newly graduates in engineering. There are internal opportunities for job changes. The product is very interesting, specially for engineers. The company built a good public reputation over the last year, with lots of investment in marketing to attract new employees, so former employees are valued by other companies. Salary (for newly graduates) and benefits (medical, dental, medicine, retirement plan) are above average in Brazil.

Cons

Carrer evolution stops after 4-5 years, when employee is too specialyzed to find a similar position in other industries. Management positions are always given to the same employees, even if they were not successful in previous management roles. Company culture is based on authoritarianism: questioning a management decision or presenting a different point of view is usually not well received by the managers.

Pros

- High technology, "sexy" product. - Very competitive salaries for engineers at the beggining of their career. - Very competent engineers and overall technical staff - Very organized in comparison with most firms - HR seems concerned about motivation of employees. HR does not always do a good job, but at least they seem to try. - Global company, which means you usually have the opportunity to deal with other companies around the world, either with partners, clients or suppliers. - Good benefits - Life style balance depends a lot on the area you work. Can be very good (44h/week) or very bad (80h/week).

Cons

- Very slow career progression (there are very rare exceptions to this rule) - Low bonuses (the most recent ones have been negligible) - Most part of the management doesn't have a formal education in management and manages according to "gut feeling" and own rules. - In some cases, the disparity between salary and responsibility is huge (great responsibility, low salary). - Despite the set of rules created for promotions, merit is still less taken into consideration than personal relationship with management.

Pros

Great place to work if you are only a couple of years from retirement. Generally speaking it offers good benefits and market salary. 401 K match up to 6% (dolar for dolar).

Cons

Company in the US resembles a family company where promotions are not given to those who deserve but they are based on non-professional criteria.
