Pros

Ecolab is a growth company with a long history of solid stock performance. There is a good management team in place and there is opportunity to grow if you perform well. Ecolab is also a global company and international is the fastest growing area of the company.

Cons

The training program is improving but in large part one's success in the past has been dependent upon on the job training and those who excelled moved up in the organization. There have been great strides in this area recently but there is still room for improvement. Anybody looking to join the company should negotiate a high salary coming in as annual salary increases do occur but I feel that certain positions in the company aren't as well compensated as they should be in comparison to the market.

Pros

It is a safe company to work for. They dont take risks and do anything to avoid losses. Employees dont feel empowered and their hiring practices are very questionable.

Cons

The culture is so 1970's! They rely on a couple of hot shots to deliver without concentrating on the rest of the team. The company does not pay well to entry level employees or non MBAs. There are hardly any support groups within the company and HR is absolutely horrible. A good example would be that they JUST established a HR diversity team!

Pros

The company is strong and has sustained continual growth and expansion. As the industry leader in it's market, Ecolab provides great job security.

Cons

Many managers still do not provide regular or positive feedback. Numerous changes in staff in the HR department causes many eyebrows to raise on a regular basis. As a manager, you are expected to work your tail off, but that also depends on your manager. That translates to very little consistency between expectations from position to position within the organization.
