Pros

the benefits were for the most part very good, if you were told about them.peer employees were almost always willing to help you in a pinch.

Cons

the only way to be promoted is to have a "good old boy" go to bat for you or be a good old boy yourself. your customer is only there to become a dumping ground for whatever is the latest and greatest new overpriced product that can be shoved down their throat. respect from upper management is non-existent at best and you don't get much more from your immediate supervisors either.

Pros

Stable company with a good 401, pension plan. Good financials. If you go into the Sales field, (TM, SSDM, DSDM, etc), it can be a good job. Not certain who the tM in Austin is referring to when he states promotion from within, as the top 3 individuals running our Division has never spent a day as an RSM, or TM. That USED to be what made the company strong, as every manager knew what it was like to ALWAYS be available to react to an ESR. I feel bad for my team as they are on call Holidays, and have a challenge just taking a weeks vacation. I have a guy who injured himself, was afraid to go to the doctor as he would miss work, not complete 100% Call Coverage and get written up for it.

Cons

The above was supposed to be the pros, but out of the TM/RSMs I know, very few actually still love the job. I would not be able to recommend a friend work for Ecolab unless they have great sales skills, and a college degree.
