Pros

Plenty of challenges, diversity of work unlimited. Certain plants have better spirit than others. Eaton should not be judged by the Wisconsin plants, as they appear to be atypical due to a poorly completed integration effort. Salaried pay scale seems high for the area, but stress is too.

Cons

No work life balance, no recognition of extra effort, high turnover in management and hourly. Pay scale is deceiving, you are given raises and then in difficult times they are taken away plus some in a process called MULA, mandatory unpaid leave of absence. This requires you to give back One Week without pay, which normally equals the salary increase you just received. After 4 years if you look just at take home it appears that you make more than when you started. In realty when you get your W2 you are actually making less than when you started! Essentially losing pace with your peers.

Pros

Eaton for a long time was a good job that promoted from within and encouraged employee engagement in leadership projects.

Cons

Eaton no longer seems to care for its employees. There is a constant fear of layoffs as they happen often and are unexpected. The work that you are required to perform is ever increasing while your pay doesn't increase even close to what the standard inflation rate is. The health insurance is basically non existent and has increased in cost dramatically over the last few years and reduced its coverage at the same time. Expect to pay around $10k out of pocket before the insurance pays a penny. While the insurance and benefits have all kept rising at a staggering rate the pay has not. There are regular emails stating that they are delaying your yearly raise indefinitely. They also require you to take unpaid time off to help them reduce their costs. Overall they will sell you with a lot of promises but at the end of the day most of them are hollow and never come to fruition. it is unfortunate that this company is declining at the rate that it is.
