Pros

Ernst & Young is a place that truly allows people to be who they are. They not only talk the talk about inclusiveness, but they walk the walk. I've been given access to senior executives at the firm as a staff, and opportunities to represent the firm and travel. As a staff person I've been asked to participate with non-profits that the firm sponsors which allows me to give back to my community. The work is generally interesting and always changing, and there's always someone to support you and your efforts. I believe that there's nothing I can't do at the firm if I really wanted to. You can't say that about many jobs.

Cons

Sometimes the hours are long but there are downsides to every job, and it's not any worse than any other firm in our business. Honestly, I'm hard pressed to think of downsides to working at Ernst and Young. I truly love what I do and can see myself working at the firm for the rest of my career.

Pros

marketability is the main reason. The name alone looks great on resumes. Additionally, I've met a lot of great people here, the majority of them have since left though. On top of the people, there is a tremendous opportunity to learn and develop, especially in the first few years. I can say that I've learned a lot over my first 2+ years.

Cons

The compensation is dowright pitiful when you consider with the amount of time spent working and raises have been generally going downward despite the fact that they keep touting how well we are doing as a firm as compared to the other big 4. Also they talk a lot about firm initiatives like "people first" and "flexibility" but the truth of the matter is that truly only exists for senior managers (to and extent) and partners.
