Capricious leadership ending remote work for no good reason

Pros

My colleagues are very amiable, and the projects we work on are really interesting. The work-life balance has been fair. In some roles, you can learn a lot.

Cons

It really seems like everyone is leaving lately, one way or another. Lots of staff were laid off in the spring without warning right before New Jersey passed a new labor law. Some of these people had just started working here even. Since then, it seems like work has been getting worse in new ways, so a lot of people are finding new jobs. The hardest part for a lot of folks lately seems to be the uncertainty about if our jobs will even be here next year because there is an ongoing restructuring, so everyone is worried that they won't be needed after everything is said and done. They are selling off office space while simultaneously requiring staff to return to the office. I had a terrible office to begin with, and now I've been given a space that is even worse. They haven't decided what I'll be doing yet after the restructuring is complete, yet it's being mandated that whatever it is, it will have to be from the office three days per week. They are still letting some people work remotely and have announced that they will hire new people into remote positions, but there is no security in these positions because they only offer an "alternative work agreement" that can be revoked at any time. The other reviewer had it right--the executive management loves to harp on about how they follow such high ideals, but they employ several tactics to exploit labor.

Pros

I can choose my work hours, and I work from home.

Cons

The work is monotonous, yet requires total concentration. The constant evaluation of my performance can be very stressful. The compensation of $15 per hour is well below the qualifications required for this job.

Pros

Used to have good pay Used to have friendly coworkers Used to be managed by human beings

Cons

The Amazon warehouse of education. You will feel extremely undervalued. "At will employment" is taken very seriously. Always feel like you're about to get fired every single day. Micromanagement by brutal AI makes it feel like you're working for a crappy gig company who always has your head on the chopping block, not a leader in education.
