Pros

Smart and dedicated colleagues; great teamwork across all development teams; supportive management to apply innovative architecture to solve business problems. It has been rewarding to work in the Technology development group, I have ongoing learning opportunities, coaching from management and have worked on many successful large scale development projects.

Cons

Top ETS leadership has not been successful in growing the organization. New senior leadership just know to cut and outsource, repeatedly. No new products or clients for many years. What makes ETS special used to be the focus on its mission and the “kinder, gentler” culture of a non-profit. Many smart and dedicated people work here because of that as the pay generally is not market competitive. All has changed in the last 2+ years. ETS does not care about its employees anymore, whom work extremely hard for the organization they believe in. Layoffs and outsourcing occurs every quarter, yet new leaders hire their cronies with no assessment or education experience to do jobs that they aren’t qualified for.

Capricious leadership ending remote work for no good reason

Pros

My colleagues are very amiable, and the projects we work on are really interesting. The work-life balance has been fair. In some roles, you can learn a lot.

Cons

It really seems like everyone is leaving lately, one way or another. Lots of staff were laid off in the spring without warning right before New Jersey passed a new labor law. Some of these people had just started working here even. Since then, it seems like work has been getting worse in new ways, so a lot of people are finding new jobs. The hardest part for a lot of folks lately seems to be the uncertainty about if our jobs will even be here next year because there is an ongoing restructuring, so everyone is worried that they won't be needed after everything is said and done. They are selling off office space while simultaneously requiring staff to return to the office. I had a terrible office to begin with, and now I've been given a space that is even worse. They haven't decided what I'll be doing yet after the restructuring is complete, yet it's being mandated that whatever it is, it will have to be from the office three days per week. They are still letting some people work remotely and have announced that they will hire new people into remote positions, but there is no security in these positions because they only offer an "alternative work agreement" that can be revoked at any time. The other reviewer had it right--the executive management loves to harp on about how they follow such high ideals, but they employ several tactics to exploit labor.
