Tightening up requirements

Pros

I can't think of any other than working at home.

Cons

This company has done its workers so dirty, and they're even dirty on Glassdoor. Any of the 5 star reviews of being a rater should be looked at with extreme skepticism. On top of the massive pay cut, they have tightened requirements for workers until there is nothing enjoyable about working here anymore. Your SL doesn't tell you how your productivity is. Instead, they use machines to tell you if you're scoring enough papers accurately. On the surface, this automation sounds great, but they will eat your firstborn if it can make them more money. And trust that you'll get a letter or two from someone's nephew or niece about how you're not up to par. And it will sound like something from a robot. Absolutely soul sucking. $15/hour? I can do nearly anything at that rate. And I'm sure you can, too.

Used To Be Worth It - Rater

Pros

Work from home Flexible hours Long or short shifts

Cons

The recent $4 dollar an hour salary cut was insulting enough. Not so long ago, ETS put us on a timer and on a validity meter. Essay length nor topic complexity had been accounted for. The timer and "validity" meter are pretty insulting as ETS sees us now as pieces of its machine that need constant calibration. I'm a professional who has worked in International Education and ESL for over 10 years. I've been working with ETS for 5 years, and the only major problems I’ve seen with its tests are security issues. I truly enjoy having students show up at my door who are not the same students in the pictures shown on their tests. But, hey! Blame lowly raters for your woes, ETS!
