Horrendous place to work

Pros

Colleagues below management level were great fun to work with

Cons

Expected to work lots of extra hours (including weekends) over what your contract states for absolutely no reward or pay what so ever and with little warning. Other than a very poor salary there are no other staff benefits at all. Career prospects aren't great. Teachers were very unhappy and unmotivated at the school I was working at. Little understanding for work/life balance - I was once told by the school director that EF is my life and that my family should come second. I was told that the sales teams around the world lie to the students about what they can expect from studying with EF. For such a wealthy organisation school budgets are extremely tight. Everything is driven by profit rather than the service being provided to the students

Pros

EF is an awesome place to start a career right out of college. You're able to get a lot of worthwhile experience and obtain a good understanding of a how business operates. The people, benefits, and culture are great. Recent graduates will enjoy themselves because there's lots of partying, company events, trips etc. The office has a great location in Cambridge, about a 10-15 minute walk from North Station.

Cons

Really low salaries for the amount of work/time put in leads to very high turnover of staff. EF knows everyone can be replaced eventually so it's more beneficial for them to spend money on events/culture/PR. There are many entry-level type positions with few advancement opportunities so don't expect to get rich working there! If you're not drinking the " EF Kool-Aid" then it can be a discouraging place to work.

Overworked and under compensated

Pros

Great benefits, TD garden box, friendly co-workers, beautiful new building and location, close to mall for food and shopping, hair salon in building

Cons

Awful and unorganized management. No flex hours even if you work 15 hour days. On average you work 10-12 hour days with no overpay. If you have a doctors appointment you are required to take a half vacation day even if you only miss an hour.
