      If you want a stable, run of the mill, SME-type, wait your turn, slow and steady compensation then this is the place for you.

      Can be quite political; all about who you know. I'm better because I got here before you did mentality

      Pros

      Great work/life balance. Plenty of opportunities for career progression and as an engineer you're not locked into a single path. You plan your own career and you're in charge of the moves you want to make.

      Cons

      Promotions are based on tenure for the first 8-10 years with the company. Performance is not rewarded monetarily even though they preach a pay for performance system. People tend to slip through the cracks by partaking in the politics and receive too much recognition based on extra-curriculars such as event planning rather then focusing on how good an individual is at their job.
