Pros

Opportunities for problem solving, learning about upcoming technologies, building technical skills that are transferable across chemical envelopes. Satisfaction of seeing how well designed towers and exchangers are functioning. Company sponsors trainings, lots of subject matter experts to available to conult with and brainstorm/text innovative solutions with. Since the company has in house manufacturing, R&D, and several functions of work, it's easier to get new and different job opportunities.

Cons

outsourcing is increasing, some non value adding admin expectations, meeting metrics, P&IDs being expected even before scope is well defined.
