Pros

Love my co workers. We are like a small family. Our store manager works her butt off. She comes to work and runs as hard as she can with our support. She tells us when we do a good job and how she appreciates us. I love our regular customers.

Cons

The company is horrible, mean, greedy, and doesn't care about anything except how much money they can make. My store manager works as hard as she can. I've seen her come to work with panic attacks and in tears because of how over worked she is. We are a small store and have an overstock problem. Dollar general sends us monthly merchandise and assumes the previous month's merchandise sold. So when they send us four boxes of the same thing it all goes to the back room because we are out of places to put it. Planograms every week and our customers complain about things moving all the time. Price changes almost daily. Store mail that rarely makes sense. Not nearly enough payroll to get the job done. Usually its single coverage every morning until about noon until we have another manager or associate come in. Nothing can get done. The only good thing we have is recovery. I don't understand how dollar general can see these things and not realize that they are messing up. Back in may our store lost it's A/C. We are located in Texas and its was in the 90's out already. Inside the store reached 98 degrees. We lost tons of food and candy. You'd think a company would care enough to help but no. We went TWO WEEKS without a/c. Only floor fans. Our DM helped every way he could but he said they wouldn't let us close the store. At this point we lost most of our associates and our assistant injured herself in our over crowded back room and broke her wrist only days earlier. My boss opened and I closed and worked 8 hours everyday in the heat. I can never forgive Dollar general for putting us through that. Does the insanity stop there? Of course not. Our grass around the store hasn't been mowed in months because Dollar general stopped paying the person who had been doing it. My SM has contacted Dollar general corp. and NOTHING has been done about it. We also have a sinkhole in our parking out and its collapsing. They haven't repaved in years and we no longer have parking lot lines. The only way to park is to see where previous cars have had oil drips onto the concrete. Our registers are ancient and are constantly freezing and glitching. Only a week ago my SM had to stay up all night for our floors to be stripped and waxed and then from there she had to drive an hour for a store managers meeting. I dont know how she does it or why. Our payroll is horrible so she can only schedule us accordingly and were lucky if we get our freight out in two days. Dollar General expects perfection and really does expect you to take them seriously. They are a joke. I am staying only to watch and laugh when the you know what hits the fan.

Pros

Customers are great (mostly lol), helping people (when I'm able), paid weekly, getting to know people in a new toen.

Cons

Not enough time or employees to get all the things done they expect of you - very depressing. You contantly feel like your not doing enough and are never told you are doing a good job.
