Pros

Large company, easy to move around geographically. Opportunity to be part of larger strategy of the brand, employees are given the freedom and support to run with ideas and acheive things, as not so hugely bureacratic.

Cons

Bonus and payment structure is outdated, managers have little autonomy to put through bonuses for high acheivers. Culture in some of the london offices is pretentious and a little fake and people can be quite cut throat in their need to be noticed.

Pros

people are great and the brands are fantastic. There is a usually a young and ambitious environment in the office with diverse people making it a fun place to work. The culture is performance oriented and demanding but the people and brands make it easy to work there.

Cons

Consensus driven culture make the company not agile, and there are many layers of management that need to be won over and consulted before any initiative can be pushed through. Also, sometimes preference for career progression is based on who you know versus accomplishments and potential.

Pros

Diageo is agreat place to work. People are friendly and the company has a fantastic portfolio of brands. There are a lot of opportunities to grow within the company. I had the chance to work in various positions within the company and I feel that the company really cares about its personel. Moroever, Diageo is a great place to start your career. You will learn a lot of things in every function of the company. The company encourages changes between functions, allowing its employees to get a wide range of experience. Finally, the Greek subsidiary is amongst the best in Europe allowing employees to get international exposure as well.

Cons

Due to the nature of the products you need to work at nights some time, since your clients are bar, clubs and restaurants. As a result, you have to spend a lot o nights away from home. While that's ok when you are 25-30 it starts getting boring when you are older. One other thing is that salaries are average. Many people leave the company because other companies, mainly pharmaceuticals, offer greater salarie and benefits, even 30% higher. This is why the employee turnover increased over the last couple of years. Finally, I am worried that senior management has not a "crystal" way to grow the business in the year to come.
