Pros

Runs Like a Startup: -Almost all processes are not standardized outside of GMP(good manufacturing practices). This is a good and bad trait (more in the cons section) as you'll have freedom to create or modify systems but also management only cares about the numbers and can/will/have go/gone around the correct way/the standard way (or the process that's already in place) of doing things to show their own managers (senior managers, directors, and above) that their team has done a good job. Pay is Good/Competitive Generally & Especially the Higher you are: -The lower tier employees (level 1 & 2) get competitive pay in their respective fields(compared to other companies). However, they do 95% of the work of their department (more in cons). -The higher you are, the more you get paid and the less work you do; the lower you are the more you do including the higher ups jobs Bonuses and More: -Employee appreciate posts/gatherings -Holidays Work: -The work ISN'T TOO BAD generally in a lot of departments. Even though the lower tier employees do everyone else's job, It's mostly not hard, it's just the principle. (start-up vibes; processes not in place so you can't really say anything but do it) Promotion: -They promote a lot; however(yes 'however' again) they don't do it solely based on work ethic/achievements (more in the cons section as this is the pros section) The outer layer of the company cares about the employees, generally. What this means is that HR/Directors and above generally care about the high level/outer layer of the employee. They give many benefits and some great bonuses,

Cons

Runs Like a Start Up: -Almost all processes are not standardized outside of GMP. -More than some managers (not supervisors) have no clue what their employees do, They only care about - get the numbers to positive and the bad numbers to negative even though it doesn't follow policies/procedures - this makes it confusing/uneasy at times to work here Work Distribution -The higher ups are entitled to do less than the grunts. The grunts do way more PLUS the jobs of the higher ups, but get paid way less; this creates a negative atmosphere. This means the higher someone is (level 3 or level 4; there are 4 levels in each position) level 3s and 4s will pass their duties onto the level 2s and 1s. Passing The Buck -Everywhere, not just between level 4s/3s in the same team, but interdepartmental Promotion: -They promote a lot but they don't do it solely based on work ethic/achievements but weighted way more heavily on the relationship with supervisor/manager. Employee that does all the work, doesn't complain, takes on more work while getting passed the buck (and this is clearly visible to the supervisor AND manager) with a normal okay relationship with the supervisor/manager will not get promoted over the employee that doesn't do extra work but looks really good/kisses in front of supervisor/manager EGOs: -I wouldn't put this on this list if it wasn't serious. There are good people that work here; stand-up people and some normal folks who just want to do their job and be professional. However, there are WAY more employees (ESPECIALLY supervisors but not only them) here that have a BIG ego and 1)don't like to take responsibility for their actions, 2)pass the buck because they're too "high level" for whatever work needs to be done even though sometimes it's literally their job, 3)Throw you under the bus to their seniors. -It felt like junior high school generally, except everyone is 28+ years old and have kids -Contributed to unnecessarily high stress levels along with the combination of everything else like passing of the buck etc.

It was toxic

Pros

They treated employees to free food, fun culture

Cons

A lot of discrimination if you are not filipino. This is a problem not only in Dexcom but across manufacturing companies in San Diego, but somehow this is a consistent problem I have been seeing. I guess, it doesn't really matter when most of these manufacturing companies are looking to leave San Diego anyway, so it doesn't seem like they care much about their manufacturing employees. But real talented people that can take the company to better heights were often let go due to this discrimination, and employees who were underqualified were often moved up due to favoritism and ethnic discrimination. In addition, Dexcom's pay was extremely poor compared to the amount of work and knowledge they required for a manufacturing job. Having left and worked in more diverse environments and having a far better experience, I can look back and say Dexcom's manufacturing was truly one of the most toxic manufacturing work places I've ever been at.
