Pros
Deloitte management initially does a good job of trying to work with the new hires to make sure they are catered to and learning. This includes the many senior partners that will always be willing to listen and help even if they cannot immediately do so because of project constraints. Compensation is solid for the first year compared to other consulting firms and if you happened to work for Deloitte and went back for more schooling (e.g. MBA), Deloitte will pay for your schooling if you return. You are required to stay for 2 years to receive maximum tuition reimbursement.
Cons
Deloitte's projects are among the worst I have heard of for strategy consulting firms. The strategy and operations (S&O) group rarely gets the choice strategic projects, which all seem to go to McKinsey, BCG, or Bain. This causes the company to accept miserable project management engagements (or even worse IT projects under the guise of strategy) that simply require consultants to set up calendars for the clients and ensure that the meetings take place and goals are met. In addition, many people in senior management (e.g. senior managers) are hardly remarkable consultants because those that are typically leave to go to a better firm. Lastly, while the compensation starts off good, it pales in comparison to other firms after the first year because Deloitte does not increase its salary greatly nor does it offer bonuses to anyone below the Manager level.
