Pros
Having worked at Deloite for over five years, it has provided me valuable experiences, both professionally and personally. I learned a tremendous amount from highly intelligent coworkers and was able to advance my career much more than if I had an industry job. I was able to control the types of projects, clients and industries I was exposed to and was able to continually add to my skillset to the extent that I wanted. I was pushed outside my comfort zone and grew as a result. I gained exposure to upper management within our clients early in my career. I also had access to lots of continuing education and induatry/company tools. There are a long of additional programs to take advantage of within the company - from the Women's Initiative to the Black Employee Network to Team for Kids NYC Marathon team. Management really pushes work/life balance and generally you can take advantage of it with the above average days of time off however you had to watch when you took that time off. Overall, I would recommend Deloitte as an excellent place to enhance one's career.
Cons
Because of the opportunity for career advancement you really have to pay your dues. This may be working 55+ hours during "busy season" to learning "on the job". The benefits were decent - t he healthcare plan I had was great but the 401K match was less than standard. The salary seemed to be lower than other Big 4's. On the consulting side - DC and ERS it seemed to be more cut throat in terms of business development the higher I went but I still felt a genuine concern as an individual. There is certainly a fair share of spin and corporate-type BS but looking back I would still work there again. This is not a place for people who want the status quo or are looking for a paycheck.
