Pros

Decent pay, can find interesting work.

Cons

-Asinine promotion/raise/bonus structure. They only do it once a year (no exceptions from my knowledge). You don’t even get to represent yourself at year-end interviews. You have a ‘coach’ who does it on your behalf (I’ve never even met my coach and probably never will). You have to make sure your project knows you want a promotion...as if I have a reason to not make more money and advance. -Only results driven in terms of client deliverables but apparently you have to go the speed of a snail in order to fill in the hours required (40-50 a week) for client deliverables (admittedly this might be project specific). -They give you generous holidays and PTO, but that counts against your utilization targets and have to make it up later. So basically if you want 95% utilization, you have to work 1,976 hours in a year out of 2,080 regardless of how much PTO or holidays you use. -Stupid amount of ‘compliance’ garbage that they say impacts your year end evaluations if you don’t do them or do them late. -Senior management only cares how they look to their bosses and clients. Or at least incentivized to act that way by the way Deloitte pressures their positions as SMs.

Pros

It is a full time job - if you are desperate for work, it is a resume filler. If you are desperate for PR in Aus - this is a pathway (but it is a form of human trafficing)

Cons

The men are misogynistic and it is not uncommon for them to behave inappropriately around the young woman. One young woman collogue was groped by a male coworker. She made a complaint. When the partner spoke to her about it he said "have you thought about your performance, too" basically threatening her - shut up or we will manage you out! The pay is low. Like really low. As in unlawfully low. The junior staff members are forced to work overtime without pay which brings their pay below the Australian award wage. This is unethical and unlawful. They have no idea what they are doing. They constantly pitch themselves to government as "expert consultants" but they consult in areas they know literally nothing about. They are "consulting" people who have worked in certain government departments for decades. For example, I was consulting for the department of education. I studied accounting and worked in accounting for years - yet I was supposed to give "expert advice" to people who have worked in education for decades? I have no idea why the government keeps hiring them.
