Open culture, open communication, respect for people, they do not perform hand-holding

Cons

It is a very big company so in reallity you are a small wheel in a big machine. This is also a reason that people have very narrow scopes of resposibilities. It can become too routine after a while. A good thing is that you can change the department if you want. The other thing I noticed is that people are not that quick at their work. What they can do today, they will do tommorrow which really slows down yoour work as well

Pros

Dell obviously has great name recognition as a Fortune 500 company. However, the brand is on the decline. It will be interesting to see if management can right the ship. Dell is not a great place for engineering, especially going forward. Most of the engineering work is being outsourced. Also, the company is not great at recognizing engineering talent. This is not surprising because it is really not an engineering company; it is an operations company.

Cons

Dell is not great at recognizing talent. Maybe this is true of all big companies. Benefits are being slashed as the company suffers financially.

I've been allowed a lot of freedom to try new things. The company can be progressive in this way. Also, if you land in the right spot you can received above average compensation.

Cons

There is very little leadership and discipline within the company. It can be very frustrating to see so many people floundering about, when so much more could be accomplished with a little direction.
