After several years of making around minimum wage due to only receiving quarter raises( which is average for this company) I approached management about a raise because i am a cake decorator and have a certain skill set it's was not taken seriously and laughed off

Pros

Great sense of community in the company. Lots of fun corporate events as well. Positive co-workers that want to be helpful. Lots of opportunity for advancement, tends to promote from within.

Cons

Though many positives, an entrenched culture can be resistant to change. The downside of promotion from within prevailing are some areas (Not all) where it's a bit of the old boys club, where close friends propel each other and exclude others.
