Pros

The colleagues in the team are wonderful to work with. They are very generous with their time and are solid professionals.

Cons

Subject: Unpleasant Experience at Ecom Operations - Negative Review I regret to say that my time at Ecom Operations, under the leadership of the two managers, has been the most disheartening phase in my professional career. The work culture fostered by these leaders is one of misery, leaving the entire team feeling frustrated, belittled, and generally discontent with their work environment. The promise of professional development at Decathlon was what initially drew me to the company, but sadly, my experience turned out to be the opposite. The pervasive micro-management was suffocating, and it seemed that trust in the team's abilities was nonexistent. This stark contrast from my previous role, where I spent seven fulfilling years, was disappointing. The constant condescension and frequent belittling from the leadership made the work atmosphere unbearable, ultimately leading to my decision to resign after just two months. One glaring instance of this management style occurred during a presentation from another department, where we were explicitly instructed "not to ask any questions." However, when curiosity got the better of us, and we posed a couple of inquiries, our leaders not only interrupted the speakers but dismissively declared, "you don’t need to know this." This incident exemplified the lack of autonomy and respect for the team's professional judgment. Despite holding the position of Customer Service Manager, I found myself powerless in managing my team effectively. Critical HR decisions were stripped from my purview, mandated to be routed through my immediate manager. This left me questioning the purpose of my role within the organization. Furthermore, a deliberate effort was made to isolate our department from the rest of the business, hindering collaboration and overall cohesion. To conclude,I would only join this department if you wish to be micro-managed, belittled, powerless and miserable. It's unfortunate that the potential for professional growth and development, which initially attracted me to Decathlon, was overshadowed by the toxic leadership and culture within Ecom Operations. I would not recommend Decathlon UK as a place to work to anyone.
