Pros

Great team, opportunity to learn, opportunities to grow, honest work

Cons

Corporate and new owners don’t care. They take away our positions and give us new titles with less pay and take away bonuses for the same amount of work. If somebody complains, they refund them. Policy doesn’t mean anything because they go against it anyway. Pay is bad, demands are impossible to reach, staffing is terrible. New owners are worse than the last ones.

Pros

I had an amazing team at my store and it was amazing to help people find dresses for events they dreamed about their whole lives! As a full time employee, the amount of wellness days you accrued was fantastic too. I was never bored at work and there was always something to do, the job also taught me a lot about management. My fellow managers were great and we helped support each other through stressful times

Cons

You were expected to simultaneously do three people’s jobs at once. There was no limit to how many appointments could be made and you had to accommodate way too many people at once. The customers could be absolutely volatile at times and it was incredibly mentally taxing especially in management, I felt like I could never leave work at times even on my days off. If we were well staffed I would say I was paid okay, but since I had to be a manager, stylist, and csr all at once, I feel like I wasn’t compensated properly. You also had to work holidays like Fourth of July and Memorial Day which sort of sucked at times too. Training was also very poor, if I didn’t know how to do something I was asked to reach out to another store.

Pros

My coworkers were the best part about working at David's. They were welcoming, encouraging & I learned so much from my managers. Everyone always offered to help me when/if needed and always lifted me up and encouraged me to challenge myself. I would be where I am today in regards to my job experience and talent without my coworkers.

Cons

David's worked me to the bone. They did not encourage a work-life balance. No one took a lunch break and most of management worked after hours. They did not stick to a core meeting hour schedule. It was very meeting heavy which give you no time to complete your actual work in a reasonable time frame which meant you had to overwork yourself in order to make deadlines. My position was eliminated last week. The way they handled the layoff process was inhumane, disingenuous & shady. They gave us no time to prepare for the layoff and we found out via a phone call. My managers were not aware that I was let go. Two weeks ago I presented a project in front of upper level management when they most likely knew they were letting me go! It makes me mad because there is no way they had to conduct mass layoffs due to "unforeseeable business circumstances." The execs most likely knew this was going to happen for months due to how poorly the business was doing. If I saw this coming from being low on the totem pole than execs definitely knew. They have since given us no indication on how to handle the layoff. Now they eliminated us access on Dayforce which was supposed to be our main source of communication in regards to next steps. I have nothing nice to say about how this was handled. I will not be referring people to work there and I will not be referring potential brides to shop there for a gown. I have lost all respect. I am too hardworking and put a lot of time and effort into this company and they showed their true colors in how they just let me go without a second thought.
