      Pros

      -Reasonable salary -Good life/work balance - flexible work time, many holiday days -DLR pays for personal development programmes including German classes

      Cons

      -It depends on the institute and group but most of the seminars and all the official e-mails and documents are in German so it can be difficult for non-German speaking researchers -No online access to many journals including Science! -Catine food isn't so great

      I work in DLR already 1 year. For research is the best place to be. Great athmosphere and quite relaxing environment.

      Cons

      For having a market oriented career, or trying to make a great career, not. I felt disconnected from the real world problems.

Nice to read that you find our workplaces exciting and appreciate the collegial atmosphere. This shows us that we’re on the right track to creating an environment where our employees can truly flourish. We know that it can be quite a ride from Munich to Oberpfaffenhofen, but the journey is worth it. We operate a number of large-scale research facilities, and this would not be possible without the conditions we have outside of the city. Of course working in research is different from working in industry and especially our entry jobs are often temporary because of the TvÖD, but you already mentioned yourself some of the other benefits we offer.
