Pros

Good Pay Flexible hours Customers Stable company who will continue to open new doors

Cons

Way too much expected. You are told that your associates must process freight, do floor mores ring register and help customers all within a 4 to 7 hr shift at miniumal pay rate. The associates are then rewarded with a write up because even though they accomplished most of their tasks it still wasn't enough. Your day is micro-managed by corporate managers who have never worked in a store and have no idea what it is like to actually accomplish these tasks. They continually cut payroll while sales and inventory levels increase leaving you 5 associates on at a given time to help ring register and task away. They do not allow managers to work in their own department because a farce of a manager on duty program which is essential you running your butt around from the front to the back of the store putting out fires. They ask you to bow down to the customers who openly treat you like garbage and are usually trying to rip you off either by returning shoes they have worn for 2 months or using excesive coupons that were meant for little league players or just plainly walking out the front door with it. Oh but by the way you bonus off of a low shrink number that they feel is attainable again from over 600 miles away. Hell keep the bonus and give me 2 more associates that can work on the floor. You treat your employees like they are dirt on your shoe and asked that we as managers do the same, "if we can't do our jobs they will find someone who will" and afterall the "unemployment rate is up so someone is looking for jobs". You promote off of who know verses who has worked thier butt off. They fire you or write you up for being late even though you just worked an open to close because of a call out. You get paid for 40 hrs get scheduled 50, then work 70 easy because "oh no the vp is coming and we can;t let him see the conditions for what they are". Lets paint a rosy picture so that they continue to be clueless as to what the real deal is. If you have a family you are openly told that work needs to come first in order to feed that family. So kiss your kids goodbye you will see them when you retire, or get fired or finally quit or maybe you will drop dead from pure exhaustion and it will all be for nothing. This company has the ability to be great. This used to be a great place to work and now it is a week to week ulcer with an average hourly wage of $8 to $10 an hour for a salary manager who has doubled their 45 paid hrs. If that isnt enough managers now have the ability to do many tasks online at home like training, scheduling and task sheets so more free time for Dick;s to enjoy. Did I mention it is not a good place to work.
