summer hours are nice but some groups have coverage and other don't. flexible work arrangements are available with an understanding manager and team. Occasionally department/team bonding events really boost moral and make people feel like they belong and are valued.

Cons

low salary advancement, low bonuses, expensive health insurance. narrow focus for career development, next to impossible for job mobility, very low tuition reimbursement (~$7,000 per year). The atmosphere is chaotic at best and the mentality is: the quality department morns versus the pompous self-serving idiots in research and development department. They treat the contractors from kelly services like second-class citizens - and its hard to see that abuse/neglect and feel helpless as a full-timer. To women in STEM: be prepared for the touchy feely male managers. They don't seem to be intentional sexual harassers but they've been in their stodgy jobs for years, so it feels perfectly natural to them to give massages out and say derogatory statements daily.
