Pros

You get to clean by yourself, it’s sometimes fun.

Cons

No time for breaks, even to use the bathroom. You have to clean a room in under 25 minutes, even if it’s a suite and totally trashed. The hours were unpredictable.

Pros

The people there are so wonderful and great to work with. Assistant GM is incredible and makes sure employees are happy, well trained & on task. She has a very good balance of professionalism and still treating employees like people (she’s for real awesome). Sales is wonderful and open to employee feedback at all times, they’re easy to talk to and always have an open door for questions or comments. Kitchen has pretty high turnover rates, but it’s a really nice space, with high cleanliness standards and room to be creative in event cooking, and you can communicate with sales on ideas for certain event meals. Front desk is wonderful, high standards of knowledge of the area, guest service skills and conflict resolution; they are always willing to help guests and coworkers. Bistro/bar always has a pretty high turnover rate, but that’s expected in a college town. Early mornings for breakfast service, but it is overall fun, and management has a great track record of hiring like-minded staff, so you’re almost always working with someone who turns into a friend. Bar has pretty steady employees (at least when I worked there) who are knowledgeable but mostly keep to themselves. Lastly, the banquet captain is so incredibly wonderful and friendly. She is wonderful at training, and is super patient while also holding events to high standards, and is always looking for ways to improve the events, in tandem with sales, and upper management. I HIGHLY recommend working for her, if you enjoy doing events and don’t mind some physical labor, and communicating with every area of the hotel, it is an incredible place to work. Housekeeping is also awesome, the hotel interior is always spotless. Overall, cannot recommend working here enough if you have the right personality for hospitality! Worked here for 2.5 years roughly, left because I moved, and I miss it!

Cons

Not really a con, but GM manages other hotels in the area, so you don’t see him super often. He is super nice, but can sometimes hover and offer unwanted help that can make things a little more difficult than needed. I know it’s from a nice place though!
