Pros

CV is very good at helping you maintain a work/life balance and is open to allowing you time out for appointments or working from home. There are few airs and graces, upper management are willing to chat to shop floor employees. Good ideas are acted upon and rewarded via an engagement scheme. You are trusted to get on with your work in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The work is straightforward, not really challenging and it's easy to leave your job at work and forget about it, I've heard it said that CV are great at jobs but not careers, so if this is what you are after then CV is definitely for you!

Cons

There is virtually no internal promotion prospect, unless you're in upper/middle management where new jobs seem to materialise regularly, once they're given to someone. I've applied for 4 internal positions (two of which I was recommended to do so by the recruiting manager) only to see the jobs go to external candidates. Even if promotions do go internally they are often "given" and announced rather than openly advertised. The company talks a good game of investing in employees but rarely seems to deliver. Also the company has an unusual understanding of "Global" roles, these are only available to you if you've got a US-focussed mind-set and live in the USA.

Fast growth means change so you have to be adaptable and staffing is lean so it's a fast paced environment. But opportunity comes along with growth.

Pros

At CooperVision, we're helping people see the world around them more clearly. We're not inventing ways to cure cancer. It's still rewarding to know your work is helping people see better, especially when you hear how it changes some people's lives. CooperVision cares about your quality of life. There is a serious investment from the top to foster health & wellness. It's really great working where people care about your health and wellness. The culture fosters open communication and feedback. The everyday work is detailed, challenging and rewarding for the right people. Cooper provides training opportunities to improve and develop skills no matter where you're at right now. We have a lot of interesting people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We have products that work well for patients and eye care providers. And we try new things to help our customers be successful. There are many people who have worked here for 10 - 20 years and beyond.

Cons

We need to do a better job of working together, collaborating even more effectively by utilizing rich, digital technologies to connect with each other.
