Pros

Lots of potential but missing opportunities by shallow management.

Cons

Constantly cleaning out anyone (usually newer folks - regardless of age) who does not align to the mgt's personal agenda. Very sub-optimized, especially in IT to what will protect the mgr's job via outward scheming and manipulation - outwardly ignoring whats best for the company. The Board here ran the company in the ground years past and will take zero risks during their final few years before they reap their final golden parachutes. Tremendous turnover of new folks brought in from the outside either becuase they try to improve (read CHANGE) things for the better - or because they threaten the retired in place mgrs. Be careful as they take full advantage of NY's "hire at will" laws.....you can be tapped on the shoulder any time!

Pros

The end user community is very nice and easy to work with

Cons

EXTREME favoritism and cliques very age discriminatory at non management levels; constant talking and joking about "who is the youngest" and "becoming an old fart" once reaching 40 pay is horrendous; i've received better raises working for Mcdonalds vacation time is not that great management relies upon their "pets" for information; employees for over 5 years are very "job security conscious" and would rather users wait and get no service than cross train and have someone else fill in; this is mostly due to the inadequate knowledge base to begin with of most of the staff; their fav managers allow them to "cherry pick" their job functions and throw the rest of the undesirable work to those less favored (employees who are either very compliant or have been there less than 3 years) Those who have been there for over 10 years never seem to have expanded their knowledge other than what was necessary for the job. Other depts such as Finance are ok, Global operations seem to be doing a good job, however, in my dept I only heard from my mgr through accusatory emails when he thought something was going wrong as per his "pets" NO feedback on a job well done UNLESS you are one of the favored.

Pros

There are none that I can think off at present. although the company promotes itself as an investor of people, this is just a ruse. I believe that the senior management really do want people to succeed, however the middle management are only concerned about keeping their jobs secure, and unless you manage to be part of their little club, you will go nowhere, regardless of how much effort you put in.

Cons

Long hours, no recognition, passed over for promotion due to age
