Pros

Most attorneys are great to work with.

Cons

Cooley culture is starting to turn like other big firms. Caring only about becoming a larger firm. They are letting good talent walk away while bad talent remain.

Pros

Good money but that’s any big law gig

Cons

No work life balance (big law norm). Fake, passive aggressive, sharp elbowed attorneys abound, especially in the upper ranks. End of year reviews are not a true metric and feedback given doesn’t appear to correlate with those who were laid off. Disproportionately laid off Asian people, women, and POCs generally. Partners year after year were overwhelmingly white and male, which was directly reflected in the aforementioned layoffs. Continues to make decisions to increase partner profits like deferring incoming associates.
