Pros

Hours are decent, and pay is ok. Most of the people here are friendly and you will have a free meal a day of whatever Sysco garbage is there.

Cons

If you are a actual chef this place is not for you. Sysco products, mostly premade garbage food, no creativity because it’s for hospitals and the lower immune system demographic. If you enjoy middle school level paperwork, customer service work w/ the sick, and a company that will totally break your soul then this is the place for you!! Compass Group takes advantage of poor people, has no care about real human compassion because the staff isn’t capable of free thinking... would not recommend

Pros

The primary pro for working at Compass group is the job security, the firm 8 hour day, free parking, an excellent cafeteria, and most importantly a wonderful team. They are slowly moving towards scrum so that's an improvement as well.

Cons

Compass' benefits, salaries, upward mobility and efficiency are disappointing. They have only very basic benefits but nothing exciting like happy hours, team bonding, flexible PTO, casual dress code (mandatory shirt tuck ins and a 4 page dress code), pet friendly work place, gym reimbursement, or even free lunch. It's also quite rigid in terms of your schedule. Even if your work is done, you are still required to sit at your desk twiddling your thumbs for the full 8 hours. Being efficient and good at your job is punished in that way. Working from home is frowned upon and you don't get a consistent work from home day every week until you have been full time for two years. There are never any work events which is a real shame. The salaries are well under market and the benefits are sub-par but the trade off is job security. You don't necessarily have to be a good employee-- They don't fire people unless something serious happened. The raises you get every year will be insulting (sometimes only 2%), all bonuses go to upper management, and you will have to wait years and years for any type of promotion. Being efficient and good at your job is never recognized rewarded. Plus, the process in STG for creating apps is very, very old fashioned. It's not even waterfall really-- It's chaos. There have been steps recently to move towards scrum, but there has been quite a bit of resistance from upper management. In short, if the only thing you are looking for in a job is work life balance and job security, this company is perfect for you. If you are looking to get paid at market value, bond with your coworkers, be promoted, work from home, get affordable insurance, work in an agile environment, and have passion for your work... I would look elsewhere.
