I've been with the company for over 5 years. I am a supervisor at the Toronto Zoo location so things are run a little bit different than normal. If your a new hire, expect to get 20 hours OR LESS during the week. The new manager (the old one died, and the guy who replaced him got fired) is cutting all the hours now to cut costs and makeup for bad years of sales. They don't understand how restaurants are run and every time they tell me to cut my staff we end up being screwed during rushes and having a ton of workload put on us. They general manager is hiring all outside staff to be OUR BOSSES when instead he should be promoting people from within the company who've been working for 10 years+. Those are the loyal people, and now with all the changes he's implementing they're all trying to find better jobs. He may think that he's doing everything for the best when really its for the worse. Managers are lazy as they delegate everything to the supervisors, and yet the supervisors are still getting bad pay. Oh and by the way, no pay raise has been happening for the past 5 years. When minimum wage was 10.25, associate trainers made 12$ and supervisors made 13$. When the minimum wage rose to 11.40$, associate trainers still made 12$ and supervisors made 13$. Why give so much responsibility to the supervisors who are in charge of a restaurant making 20k in sales daily when they get paid so little? What happens when Ontario minimum wage raises to 15$ how much are supervisors going to get paid? Only reason why people stay is because we are so close to our coworkers, but not to upper management.
