you will get proper recognition to your work. you work on real life projects and real research opportunities which will make a difference to the world good networking opportunities

Cons

its an educational institution and thus the pay will be much lesser compared to the same work you'd have done outside the university.

Bureaucracy rules. The way things are done already, is the only way things are done-- not very much room for improvement.

Pros

Columbia Univ is a worldwild well-known University w/ a lot of big shots in biology resaerch field; A variety of reserch facilities make work easier and save your time;

Cons

The communication within the Cancer Center has A LOT of room for improvement; collarabation is lacking as well. In general, it's not a very vibrate place for research which is hard to believe but true! Benefits are not very attractive. But a lot of vacation days, only if you can use them.
