The consumer sales role is not a sales role at all. It’s a glorified call center and the job is really misrepresented when hired. The entire department is run very poorly. Management doesn’t care about sales or the money that is going into your pocket. They just want you to make as many calls as possible a day and that’s all they care about. The sales structure is horribly laid out and a lot of times your sales are not able to be confirmed. Hard to make a living on such little pay. The base salary is low and the commissions are not much better. Management doesn’t care about anyones career growth. People are stuck in the position for many years and don’t end up going anywhere. Seriously consider a different job if you are looking for a sales job. I’m sure there are other great areas within the company but the consumer department specifically is a very toxic and negative work environment.
