Pros

Pay is amazing, above average for the industry, way above average for grads. Work is interesting and dynamic. Location is a little boring but cost of living is phenomenal in cedar rapids. I'd recommend living in Iowa city or Coralville if you're young and single

Cons

We've been bought out twice and now are under Raytheon Technologies. At close to 200k employees, you feel that you're just a number (actually a number since name IDs have now changed to 9 random numbers). Getting help from HR, IT, and other services that were once great and responsive has deteriorated a bit

Pros

You get a paycheck. You have a job.

Cons

Retirement options went to crap when UTC took over. 401k contributions went down for the peons. Surprised they didn't find a way to get rid of my future pension benefit. Merit pay increases are a joke, they average 2% across a team. Bonuses have gone the way of the dodo for peons. You have to be an executive to "qualify" for one. No career advancement. Took 15 years to get a promotion from test tech to sr. tech and then they got rid of the sr. position. Forget about going from a technician to engineer, unless you have a "favored" degree, you are ignored or just passed over for someone "just a bit better".

Pros

Work is challenging Good people Decent workspaces

Cons

Since the acquisition, the company has been coasting on its old reputation while behind the scenes benefits are getting worse, compensation is getting slashed, and morale is at rock bottom. Management takes a "hey, that's business" attitude to benefits, but is slowly increasing pressure on employees to deliver results. I think it will get better once enough people have left that management can't ignore it anymore, but who knows what will be left then. What's sad is that it was a really good company once, and now it's more like a very average, stock-price-first / employees-last corporation.
