Pros

Not sure if its a good thing, but they offer permanent contract.

Cons

Cognizant assumed the Google Maps project from CPL and Manpower (another vendors). Basically they took ‘hell’ and they are managing to make it worse - yes, it is still getting worse, in a weekly basis. As soon as they assumed, they did some meetings promising a lot of good changes, speaking a lot of awesome things about them. It turned out they were not good guys at all. First thing they did was to cut out the food provided, decrease the amount of snacks. After that, they implemented their system, which is buggy and useless. They know its buggy but they said they won’t fix it and we have to get used to it. Now, they are already cracking the whip, pushing us to work harder and harder. Its now harder to get holidays approved, no paid sick days, no pension scheme, no benefits, nothing. Last, but not least, in the next months they will ‘review’ the bonus system, in other words, either cut it or decrease it.

Pros

It's difficult to think of one.

Cons

After being absorbed by Cognizant, we were assured that no one would be at risk of losing their jobs and that, if necessary, they would find us other positions within the company. However, during my time there, employees were laid off in waves. If you want to feel like just a number on a spreadsheet rather than a valued individual, this is the place for you. I was among those laid off, and shortly after, I received an email from Cognizant stating they had found my information on a job board and thought I would be a good fit for their company. This demonstrated just how disorganized and, at times, heartless the company truly is. Some of their policies were also quite unreasonable, such as requiring 48-hour notice before calling in sick if you didn’t want your absence counted against you. The hiring process was equally nightmarish, feeling more like applying for a government position than a corporate job. Many of my coworkers had their verification documents repeatedly rejected for who knows what reason. It’s worth noting again that we had been absorbed by Cognizant and were not new hires. I have worked for questionable companies in the past, but Cognizant stands out as the worst place I’ve ever been employed. It's perplexing that they've received awards for being a great workplace when, during my time there, we were treated like nothing more than sheep.

Pros

There is nothing good to say about Cognizant. Do not trust in the "good" comments that are on Glassdoor about this company, you can see they are totally fake, probably written by some manager of Cognizant to try to cover the real comments of their employees.

Cons

I had worked for Cognizant 1 year before I left the company for obvious reasons (In total 1.5 years as I worked with CPL half year before they took the ownership of the project). They made promises in a really fancy presentation at the Convention Center in Dublin. But that was it. I do not want to imagine how much money they spent in that show (they could have invested that money in their employees instead) to do nothing after. Well nothing, they cut the majority of the benefits that we had with the previous employers CPL/Manpower such as free cantine, flexibility, promotional processes, etc. It is sad cause the job was even fun surrounded of really nice people but they screwed it up. Firstly we gave them a chance but soon it was clear that nothing that they had promised was about to be true. New hires getting less salary for the exact same amount of job, or different depending on what you demand during the interview. The funniest part is that they order you not to talk about your salary with your colleagues, something that is basically impossible. They changed the whole contract in terms of time shift for some teams (working later and later every time), and in terms of productivity setting the targets 10% higher from one day to another. And they also have taken some people, who where mentors, back to basic operation duties, creating a horrible work environment. I wish all my friends working there get a better job soon. They deserve a company which cares more about them and not that much about the numbers. It is a pity but it is true. I imagine Cognizant promising Google a reduced budget to take over the project but I am sure Google is not aware of all the strategies they are implementing to reach that budget.
