Pros

The job is emotionally reward and has a up to a 7000 student loan payment at the end of the service year

Cons

Bare minimum pay in exhausting conditions. Very understanding staff but not always a lot of things they can do to improve work place conditions.

Pros

The children make it worth it. Seeing my students grow so much as I worked with them on their personal and educational struggles meant that I was able to equip them with something that changed their behaviors and their ways of thinking.

Cons

The management is not the best. Sometimes the schedule is not well thought out and it adds to the stress with all the things we already have to do and keep track of.

Pros

City Year provided trainings and support for first-year AmeriCorps members. Staff at City Year want you to succeed and provided room for me to grow my teaching and tutoring skills. There are many opportunities to explore different careers in education and work on Life after City Year plans.

Cons

It was difficult to manage my work-life balance especially with the long hours of service.
