Pros

The benefits. They are very generous with their dental plan and fairly so with their education reimbursement. My manager was also quite flexible with giving time off when requested. However, she was more of the exception than the norm. Because of the size of the company, you get to meet a lot of people and network.

Cons

It is a very large company and it is very easy to "get lost in the system". This often means that it is possible to be passed over for promotions and advancement. They do not hesitate to lay off their employees either. Often employees hear through the media before they are told by their management. Even managers who have been with the company for 20+ years are laid off without notice. It may just be the culture.

Pros

A large place with many different things to do, for those interested. It's what you make of it. There is no shortage of opportunities, but you need to be on the lookout for them - take the initiative, talk to people and proactively seek new positions.

Cons

Can be very bureaucratic. Layers upon layers of people in some cases. It often seems there are many people whose sole job is tracking abnd reporting on the few who actually do anything. Very over-staffed, and managers defending their turf.

Pros

Flexible work hours. Before the meltdown, ability to transfer between workgroups to cross-train. Most of the people I work with are great, knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge and help each other out. My workgroup did not cut the training budget as most others did.

Cons

Morale is very low right now due to layoffs 2-3 weeks ago. Sr. Mgmt believes 50+ hours every week is acceptable. Due to regulatory requirements separation of duty has put every workgroup in a silo causing 1) no to very little cross training, 2) decreasing the ability to get things done in a reasonable amount of time.
