Pros

Distinguished organization with strong brand. Strong analytical support including help desks for all topics. Flexible platforms allow for customized investment strategies. Focused on comprehensive financial planning and tools are satisfactory. Compensation package is attractive. Very entrepreneurial environment which works for more established FA's.

Cons

Very big and too much information to navigate. Too many platforms for advisors to choose from, each with a different fee schedule. Lately, issues with financial stability affects prospect perception. Employee cuts may affect customer service. Not much support for newer FA's. Throw you out there and figure it out on your own. No marketing budget so you have to spend a lot of money to make money. A lot of focus on cold calling rather than other marketing strategies.

Pros

The team you work with is excellent and people really work as a team. There are very senior team members at Citigroup that are helpful and provide good mentoring of junior team members whenever required. Management also came up with a plan to talk to individual employees as part of their 'lunch meetings' which was a great idea to talk directly to management. Overall, a great place to start your career but make sure if this is your first job, you at least look around to understand the importance of the people you work with and respect the company. I was happy at Citigroup from work/life balance, but pay scale was below average.

Cons

Current market turn-around and lot of re-orgs.
