Pros

Good compensation package Stable large company with steady revenue Flexible work hours/location Great work-life balance, esp for those who have kids

Cons

Too many reorgs: experienced 3 reorgs within less than a year. This company is so schizophrenic and disfunctional it's not even funny. No growth: you have to be super in charge of your career in order to get something out of your job. Duplicating work: you see two teams working on the same thing all the time. They need to lay off a lot of people to clean up this place. Layers: way too many layers of management. Mind boggling that there are so many VPs with 0 direct reports. Working remotely: you can work from home for months and talk to people on the phone without knowing what they look like. way to boost morale. Work environment: old grey cubes, empty most of the time because of their working remote policy. Age of employees: very hard to find young people there. You always see lots of people in their 40-50 stuck at the individual contributor level too.

Pros

Name recognition on resume. If you can get approved for work at home from a manager it's a nice perk.

Cons

THEY CLOSE FOR TWO WEEKS AROUND CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS - employees must use vacation time to get paid and contractors don't get paid at all - Apply for unemployment in CA and it can get approved. They plan to cut $1,000,000,000 in 2011/2012 and 10,000 people. They bought and dumped companies. John Chambers should GO - NOW!!! He's driven the company down the tubes too long. Look at their stock price from 2010 to now. What a loss for every employee. Moral is really hurt. They allow incompetant managers to remain. A lot of good talent has already jumped ship and more to follow. Overworked with a very poor onboarding process. Departments don't have common process and a lot of confussion between teams. WebEx is like another company altogether although they are part of Cisco. Products are falling behind. Manufactureing is week with a lot of product delays.
