Pros

We can work from home part of the time. The company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs are impressive. I like it that our volunteering generates matching funds to nonprofits.

Cons

The politics have become challenging during the last year or so. It saddens me that some talented, wonderful people have left for this reason.

The below are about Chennai Cisco based on my experience - Its not cisco, this division was previously known as Scientific Atlanta and they still follow the old work culture. If you expect Cisco work culture and join here, you will be highly disappointed. I joined here because of brand name. But later disappointed. Work culture is similar to service company, you will never feel you are working for CISCO. - No work from home, No laptop(No laptop for engineers, but admin and finance have). Some team provide both. But not all. - No recognition, during the appraisal they only concentrate on old employees. Lots of politics - If you from a good company this place will not suite you, People from small company might like this place

Pros

Great pay with awesome benefits. Tons of highly motivated and highly qualified technical teams. Get to design the most expensive, most complicated systems imaginable and actually see them deployed.

Cons

Management is hostile towards technology. The less technical you are the higher you can rise in the ranks. Engineers and technical individual contributors are second class citizens whose recommendations are largely ignored, then are cut when management's revisions fall flat. Zero accountability of any kind for decision makers.
