Pros

Decent health insurance. Some opportunity for overtime if you want it. No layoffs yet but with all of the outsourcing it is only a matter of time.

Cons

The company is outsourcing a lot of duties to foreign countries. The agents in these foreign countries are constantly screwing things up and we have to fix it and get yelled at by the customer. Management is constantly coming up with "great ideas" of how to run the place better but they don't listen to their employees' input and the plans almost never work. Replacing our perfectly good phone system with one that is inferior is a good example of this. A lot of the time they don't even go through with these "improvements" so it's hard to predict what work will be like in a month or a year.

Pros

Great idea for an all suites hotel, the product does sell itself. The front desk position was great and challenging.

Cons

After opening up the hotel and then working there for a long period of time no received a promotion or a raise. Management depended on the regular hourly employees to do a lot of the menial duties they got paid to do

Pros

Was above min wage at the time Great flexible hours to accommodate college student schedule Wonderful exposure to running a small business Got to meet a lot of people traveling in and out Choice Hotels training and marketing materials are top notch

Cons

When working in a hotel chain like this, it's rare you get to move up unless the owner is not the manager Serving the general public is always difficult when eccentric and brash personalities are displayed The type of customers the chain attracts is not always pleasant or appreciating, they are just looking for cheap cheap cheap + everything free.
