Pros

Nothing at all. Pay I guess? But even then we're not getting paid enough.

Cons

Was fine, a good decent phone tech job. But it's morphed into an awful place where you're so micromanaged that I get a phone call if I run over a minute on any metric whatsoever - even ones I've never had an issue with, I'm talked to for anything that isn't perfect, etc. They're tightening the metrics so hard that if I have to poop, I run over on my alotted 5 minutes at a time for personal time and then I'll get both a cell phone call and my manager DMing me on teams. Raiding in MMOs full-time is less stressful than this. It's got me wanting to self-harm and I panic when I hear my cellphone ringing now. Location flubbed to hide identity. Oh yeah if your preferred name is different from legal (trans, nickname, etc) - good luck, your legal name is required on your profile and half our systems can't pull from the nickname field so despite everything I get legally fullnamed at least 4 times a day by a name I haven't used in years.

Pros

Flex schedule, work from hone options, good benefits, generous time off

Cons

The company is growing faster than they can handle. It is a huge company and doesn’t feel very personal. It is a mess to try to get a hold of a live person in IT or HR. Corporate is very disconnected from what is done daily. Workloads are unmanageable.

Pros

Centene is a big company

Cons

- Vaccine mandate: Comply or be fired by the end of 2021. - Promotions: They promote from outside the company or not at all, internal talent is largely ignored (see next point). - Chaotic Leadership because of mergers: Acquired company leaders are brought in and everyone has a new direction for a year or so then it recycles and repeats, especially true for the specialty companies. Some get a new CEO almost yearly. Very poor management practice that results in their "new" vision getting ignored because they will be gone in a year anyway. - Everyone is short-staffed and contractors are used to fill the gaps with less than desirable results. - You will have a workload bigger than you can handle - ALWAYS. - Centene is moving from a "Growth by acquisition/merger strategy" to a "streamlining/efficiency strategy" - that's a code word for even more workload and possible layoffs. - if you work in IT you will work almost ALL weekends and holidays - especially competent people. You might think you are getting paid well but after you add up all the hours it's not worth it. - Before Covid Centene was deeply rooted in opposing work from home, Covid forced them to change, They WILL go back to requiring you in the office eventually - there is NO question about that. - The bottom line? Centene is a frustrating employer, with frustrating bureaucratic slowness, frustrating & struggling technology, chaotic leadership with constantly changing vision, and a very high workload for competent employees.
