Pros

Centene had a very good base compensation schedule and is generous with stock options and a bonus plan. They invest in the newest technologies.

Cons

Very little focus on the management and leadership of its employees including senior executives. Each plan has had multiple Chiefs in the last couple of years. No coordination between the Corporate functions and the plans.

Pros

Overall, Centene is a decent company to work for. While I worked there for four years, I was on two different teams during my transition after moving to another state I was grandfathered in my tenure with the couple months gap because I was hired on an internal application for my second position. I really appreciated that because the only reason I left that position was due to state rules saying that I had to live within the state and I was moving to be closer to family. The insurance that they provide is also adequate though expensive.

Cons

Everyone knows that healthcare means you work in a dynamic environment where change is anticipated and not avoided. However, the changes that I underwent at Cine or dizzying nauseating and for a Neurodiverse person, it was almost impossible for me to use the given benefits in order to get accommodations or get placed in another position. In the end, after improving my production and surpassing the requirements for my position, I was terminated because I made a mistake on something which they said I knowingly falsified documents when it was an honest mistake. of course you cannot prove knowledge in a court of law I cannot present any evidence so I also was rejected unemployment insurance, which left me without a job and without my four years worth of contributions to my unemployment insurance. Depending on the market, you’re in or line of business that you serve you have to accept the fact that every state does not have the same budget and therefore every position is not going to be fairly paid.

Pros

- Pay is ok, and even in bad financial year we got bonuses - Team members really want to help each other success - There are sometimes lots of open positions if you want to move, but leadership positions especially tend to go to external hires

Cons

- IT has become rudderless with priorities changing constantly because of senior leadership's inability to make decisions - Org changes at least every 6 months with layoffs each time - Multiple projects at once due to staying on old systems way too long with impossible deadlines - Promotions are nonexistent unless you threaten to quit. - Contractor conversions are very rare. If you join as a Contract to Hire be prepared to be a contractor for at least 2 years. - Government cuts may impact medicare and medicaid contracts
