Pros

+ Health insurance / benefits package is above average. + Talented engineers work here + Typically a very positive atmosphere + Stock options

Cons

- Salary is below average for the engineering positions - Recent raise was 3% across the board (7% inflation) which means a 4% pay cut, raises were skipped last year because of "the economy" despite great sales performance with used cars - Recently did quiet layoffs e.g. forced a return to office on many employees, forcing some of them to quit because they couldn't manage the sudden change due to home obligations like pets, kids, etc. This was intentionally done to cut the workforce down without having to do severance packages or see "layoffs" in the headlines. Very evil practice. - Remote work is poor. Communication is primarily focused on meetings. Most employee's calendars are filled wall to wall with meetings leaving very little focus time. The company has continued to move towards meetings and less written communication, which is a bad sign that it will struggle when the economy enters a growth cycle. - Delayed raises/bonuses because they made a ridiculously high projection during the pandemic year that used car sales would continue to be astronomically high the following year. This bad decision ended up getting put onto the workers to save the investors. - Personally, I was told that this would NOT be an on-call position and then several months into my employment I was put on-call with no additional compensation for the added hours. - Some managers use outdated performance review methods designed to pit teammates against each other, contributing to a bad team atmosphere. - Not truly committed to diversity and inclusion. They require you to do diversity/inclusion training, but they don't implement any of the practices that they preach in the training. Their over-reliance on meetings excludes a lot of people with speaking disabilities, stammers, anxiety disorders, accents, etc. This is the opposite of diversity and inclusion.
